Cheap Pink Laptops

If you’re in the market for a pink laptop and don’t have a lot of money to spend there are quite a few pink laptops on the market.  Many of these are not going to be full sized laptops with 17 inch screens and 4 gigs of memory.  If you’re in the market for a laptop that’s around the $300 range then you’ll probably be looking at pink notebook laptops.  These are usually smaller, from 13-15 inches with a hard drive of about 160 gigabytes.  Many times they are not running Vista, instead they’re running Windows XP, (which many think is a better system) and they’ve got a processor in the 800 – 1.5 GHz range.  That means they aren’t running with a dual core processor, and they’ll usually have a gig of memory.  That means you aren’t going to be running the latest and greatest games – but that’s not what they’re designed for.

Laptops Designed for Traveling

These small pink laptops are generally “on the road” laptops, something you can take with you to do basic productivity tasks while traveling.  That includes doing spreadsheets, word processing, browsing the internet and using email.  There’s really no need to be hauling around a big heavy computer especially if you’re going to be flying.  Although they aren’t huge in features their are some great trade offs to be made with these computers.  First off is price.  Because they’re smaller, they’re cheaper.  They don’t have huge hard drives and huge displays.  They usually don’t have the latest and fastest processor either, but they don’t need it.  Because they’re running XP they don’t need the largest and fastest processor.  Microsoft has been long known for making each new operating system release bigger an more bloated than the last one.  With a smaller and leaner system, you might not even notice the slower processor.   Another big bonus is weight.  They don’t weigh nearly as much as a standard laptop, which can get really heavy, especially if you’re having to drag it around the airport.   The third bonus is battery life.  Because they don’t have to power a fast processor (which uses more energy) or a big 17 inch screen their battery times can be much longer than a standard laptop.  For example, the Samsung NC10 pink netbook advertises 8 hours of continuous run time!  Of course if you’re doing processor extensive operations, or doing something that requires the hard drive to be constantly spinning, you’ll get less time out of your batter.

Small Pink Laptop Advantages:

Before Buying a Cheap Pink Laptop…

Consider what your primary use is going to be.  Is this going to be your every day, do everything computer, or your travel/commute laptop.  Think about what peripherals you need and what you can do without, many times cheaper laptops are missing a optical (CD/DVD) drive.  Some of them don’t have floppy drives either, but that isn’t so much of a concern these days, since most people are using thumb drives.  If you’re going to use this as a travel laptop then you’ll probably need to it be wireless so you can connect to Wi-Fi and check your email or browse the web.  Most all of these computers have that feature, since that is what they’re designed for.   So make a list of what you absolutely need and then go find your cheap pink laptop.
