Disney Pink Laptop, The Princess Pink Netbook

Disney and ASUS have put their heads together to come up with a pink notebook computer that’s sure to be on the wish list of lots of little girls.  It’s designed for kids from 6 to 12, and is built with a reinforced design to take the kind of punishments only kids can inflict.  The interface is specially designed, and Disney themed.  It’s got a Disney themed web browser and a suit of widgets and applications. It also includes two dozen parental control options and a child friendly software suite, of course featuring Disney characters and icons.  There are also built in parental controls for the browser, so they can set what the kids can see online and who they correspond with.

This is an actual netbook computer it’s go an 8.9 inch LCD display, with built in wireless connectivity, and the Windows XP home operating system.  It’s a 1.6 Ghz processor, with 160 gigs of hard drive memory. The XP system is used in a lot of netbook and notebook computers because of it’s smaller size, and stability.  The bloated program that is Vista needs a pretty heavy duty laptop to run, so you’re not going to find it on less expensive laptops.  Still, if you’d like to install Microsoft Office or other productivity programs (not included) you can do so, and the run time without recharging is pretty good too (5 hours).  The parental controls are sophisticated enough to control web, email, and chat access, even allowing you to set dates and times at which they can be accessed.  Parents can also go back and see a log of access to see where there children have been.

As you can imagine a pink laptops for kids needs to be tough.  There’s a spill proof keyboard to protect against inadvertent spills, and the ASUS shockshield date protection to guard against data loss in the even of the computer being dropped.  Although kids probably don’t have any critical data they need to protect, it’s nice to know your computer won’t be trashed if it gets dropped (within reason).  Like any good netbook the laptop comes with a webcam, wireless connectivity and microphone.

As you can imagine it’s full of Disney themes, backgrounds and such.  There’s the obligatory princesses, and also some themes for older kids, based on t.v. shows like the Jonas Brothers and Hanna Montana.  It’s a real computer at a pretty good price, you’d pay about as much for a regular netbook.  The 1.6 GHz notebook with 160 gigs hard drive space are standard on these smaller computers.  So if you’re looking for a  pink laptops for your princess, this may be the one for you.
